Gordon Community Woodland

Heather in full bloom amongst the newer tree plantations

Gordon Community Woodland is owned by Gordon Community Woodland Trust - a charitable Trust based in Gordon. The woodland is managed by the Trustees and a committee of volunteers with help from Borders Forest Trust. All members of the Trust are free to attend committee meetings and membership is open to anyone.

The woodland covers an area of 210 acres of mainly mixed broadleaves. One section (approx. 2 acres in the south western corner) includes many mature trees but the rest is much younger - planted in 1990.

The woodland includes a large pond, the site of some ancient burial mounds and a disused railway line. It is bounded on the eastern side by the River Eden. Picnic sites and benches are dotted around the woodland.

Access

The woodland is criss-crossed with grass paths and has 3 marked walks ranging in length from 1.5km to 2.0km. These walks are way-marked from the car parks and you'll find maps of the woodland at each car park.

There is one stretch of all ability path (350m) ending at a picnic area. This path is suitable for wheelchairs and starts at the main car park on the A6105.

The woodland is not suitable for bikes or horses.
